My name is Tiffanie Marquez. I have six children, ages twenty-four to nine. Personally, I have experienced the many joys and sadnesses of pregnancy in birth and in loss. My journey to becoming a doula and childbirth educator has been a long, personal one. Throughout my pregnancies I have been supported by some amazing midwives and OBGYNs, friends and husband. I believe strongly in a woman being supported by her birth professional of choice, OBGYN, Certified Nurse Midwife, Certified Professional Midwife in the environment she chooses, hospital, birth center, home.
My passion is education. Information is constantly changing and it is my goal to help families have access to information to answer any questions or concerns they may have. I support a woman's right to informed consent and encourage families to understand every test, every procedure, every intervention, every suggestion put before them. It is not my job to change a family's mind or input my opinions, but to offer information so a family can make the choice with which they are comfortable and satisfied.
The heart of my business is to support a woman, her partner, and family emotionally, educationally, physically. I am a cheerle ader. I am a support for dreams and hopes for birth. I am a voice of reason and rational in the midst of birth. I am a sounding board and listening ear. I support parents' rights. I am physically present to help throughout labor, to offer support to both parents, from early labor through the hours after birth. It is my goal to support women and families throughout the journey of pregnancy: Childbirth Education, Birth Doula, Placenta Encapsulation, and Breastfeeding Support. I believe every woman going through this sacred journey to motherhood should have the support she needs to bring her baby into this world her way. It would be an honor for me to be able to support you in your journey.
Qualification and Training
I completed my DONA International birth doula training at The Simkin Center at Bastyr University in Kenmore, Washington in January 2013, under the instruction of Carrie Kenner and Sharon Muza, two of the leaders in this great profession.
I received my placenta encapsulation training from Big Belly Services in Seattle, Washington in March 2013, led by Carrie Kenner. Updated placenta encapsulation training through APPA, Association of Placenta Preparation Arts, 2020.
I obtained my childbirth education training at the Simkin Center at Bastyr University in Kenmore, Washington in May 2013 under the instruction of Carrie Kenner and Joni Parthemer.
I also attended Dancing for Birth Instructor Training under Stephanie Larson at the Simkin Center at Bastyr University in August 2013.
Powerful Prenatals course through Big Belly Services in Seattle, Washington in September 2013, which focuses on making the most of the prenatal appointments for the birth doula and expectant parents.
In September 2016 I attended Birthing from Within Mentor and Doula training in Denver, CO., led by Virginia Bobro.
In May 2018 I began a program through American Healthcare Science in Holistic Health.
